June 20, 2021: Letter to Dad, Happy Father’s Day

I can not believe this is the third Father’s Day that you are no longer in your physical body. It feels as if this happened so long ago, but at the same time, it is all still so fresh in my mind.

What I am doing today:
🔸 I had breakfast with BAE, who you would really like.
🔸 I am making Grandma’s mac and cheese, collard greens with kale, and cornbread for dinner.
🔸 I am still not ready to see your gravesite, so I will not be doing that.
🔸 I will light a candle in your honor.
🔸 I will play a few of your favorite albums.

What you missed:
🔸 I sold our childhood home to one of your former colleagues. You would get a kick out of that.
🔸 I am renovating three properties.
🔸 I started working out, but dang, I am still struggling.
🔸 I have a pitbull Grandpup. He is a handful but the cutest.
🔸 Work continues to be great. I am doing more egg head unicorn stuff. You would love that so much.

What I will do for the rest of 2021
🔸 I have completed therapy. It was a great experience. I recommend it to everyone. So, I will continue using the lessons learned to live my best life.
🔸 Continue to build stronger relationships.
🔸 I am going to move ahead with getting the lotus tattoo.
🔸 I had plans to do more traveling in 2020, but that did not go as planned. That was due to Covid. I have a bit of travel planned especially since I changed my mind and took the vaccine.
🔸 It is also time to turn the page on Philly.

You taught me so much, and I will continue to live my life based on some of those life lessons. The lessons I will continue to focus on are:

🔸 Live in my truth, even if it is unpopular
🔸 Always lead
🔸 Do not follow fools.
🔸 Get money

I will be embracing those lessons for the next fifty years. You were not perfect, but you will always be my superhero.
